Claire Downer, an incoming freshman at Chaminade Julienne High in Ohio representing Crossroads Track and Field, won the national title in the pentathlon in the girls 13-14 division by accumulating 3,014 points at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Downer, who ran 2:34.62 in the 800 meters, just missed matching her personal-best 3,021 points from June 27 at the USATF Youth National Combined Events Championships at SPIRE Institute in Ohio.
